Future of Mobile Gaming

I just got back from Nokia Open Lab 2008 (the first ever) where 35 people from all over the world converged on Helsinki for 4 days to discuss the future of the mobile web and social media. Big on everyone’s mind, of course, was mobile gaming. The mobile device, after all, is poised to replace the PC as we know it.

In any case, the experience got me thinking about this interview I filmed at the Next Generation in Gambling conference in Montreal this past august. This is Ron Rushin of Cantor Gaming talking about both what he perceives to be one of the biggest challenges facing the mobile gaming industry, as well where Cantor itself is in terms of mobile product offers and development.

Mobile Gaming from Cantor Gaming

So at this point it is impossible to ignore how the mobile web is going to be a massive component of the very near future of the internet. In fact, not only have a number of gaming operators launched mobile products, but others such as mFortune cater exclusively to mobile players.

Well, for Cantor Gaming, mobile gaming means more than just smart phones. Here, Ron Rushin, the CTO / CIO of Cantor Gaming discusses just what it is that Cantor is doing new in the mobile gaming space.

Basically, Casinos in Las Vegas are poised to offer a complete entertainment handset to their guests, and Cantor already has one hotel on a trial program to this effect. We ran into Ron at the Next Generation in Gambling conference in Montreal, where he was nice enough to take a few minutes to chat.
